Born in Montevideo, she diploma in the National School of Lyrical Art. From 1974 to 1979 he developed intense activity, winning several prizes in national competitions and performing in numerous chamber music recitals as well as in various opera seasons.
In 1979 he obtained the “Plácido Domingo” award and in 1980 the “2nd Grand Prize”, both in the “Francisco Viñas” Competition in Barcelona. The That same year he won 1st Prize in the “Mozart” Competition in Barcelona and made his debut at the Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona. obtaining the Spanish National Radio gold medal awarded to the most outstanding debutant of the season.
Immediately debuts at the Paris Opera in the “Barbiere di Siviglia” (Rosina) and at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in “Le nozze di Figaro” (Marcellina) under the direction of Maestro Riccardo Muti and staging by Giorgio Strehler. From that moment on, a continued collaboration was established with said theater in which he performed in successive seasons “La pietra del paragone” (Clarice), “Anna Bolena” (Smeton), “Il barbiere di Siviglia” (Rosina), “L 'italiana in Algeri' (Isabella), 'Il viaggio a Reims' (Maddalena), 'Lucio Silla' (Cecilio) and 'Nabucco' (Fenena) at the opening of the 1986-1987 season and in subsequent tours of that theater to Berlin and Tokyo.
It has been performed in the main theaters of the world such as Milan, Rome, Naples, Pesaro, Bologna, Florence, Turin, Bari, Genoa, Modena, Catania, Palermo, Paris, Geneva, Brussels, Liège, Berlin, Stuttgart, Wiesbaden, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Madrid, Vienna, Lisbon, Sofia, Tokyo, Osaka, Pretoria, Mexico, Santiago de Chile, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Washington, Miami, etc. It was directed by directors of the caliber of Caudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Riccardo Chailly, Bruno Campanella, Julius Rudel, Alberto Zedda, John Elliot Gardiner, Jesús López Cobos, Sir John Pritchard, Alain Lombard, Lorin Maazel and registas such as Giorgio Strehler, Eduardo de Filippo, Patrice Chéreau, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Roberto de Simone, Luca Ronconi, Lluis Pasqual, Jérôme Savary, José Carlos Plaza, Sergio Renán, Jorge Lavelli, etc.
Throughout her extensive career she has played more than 70 roles, including Sextus and Cornelia (Giulio Cesare), Dorabella (Cosí fan tutte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Angelina (La cenerentola), Arsace (Semiramide), Orfeo (Orfeo ed Euridice), Ottavia (L'incoranazione di Poppea), Vagans (Juditha Triumphans), Adalgisa (Norma), Carmen (Carmen), Andromache (Ermione), Leonora (The Favorite), Fidalma Il marriage segreto), Preziosilla (La forza del destiny), Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Giuliette (Les contes d'Hoffmann), Elisabetta (Maria Stuarda), Sara (Roberto Devereux), Climene (Saffo), Quickly (Falstaff), etc.
Its repertoire includes works from all eras, from Monteverdi to contemporary music, both in opera and zarzuela as well as in symphonic concerts and chamber music recitals.
He participated in several world premieres: "Divine words" by Antón García Abril, “La casa de Bernarda Alba” composed and directed by Maestro Miquel Ortega, “Il Duce” composed and directed by Maestro Federico García Vigil and “El llibre vermell” by Master Xavier Benguerel.
She was a singing teacher at the Higher Conservatory of Music of the Liceo de Barcelona between 2003 and 2006, holding the position of head of the Singing department in the 2005-2006 academic year.
He has taught master classes in Barcelona, Porto Alegre, Medellín, Bogotá and Montevideo.
As of 2014, she retires from the stage after a 40-year career, and currently holds the position of Academic Coordinator of the Sodre National School of Lyrical Art.
She has been invited as a jury in the competitions “Francisco Viñas” (Barcelona), “Ausensi” (Barcelona), “Callas” (San Pablo), “Rivelas” (Panama), “Radio Filarmonía” (Lima) and “Concurso of Canto OFB” (Bogotá)
